Donald Trump and the Root of All Evil?

I have been working on an article for a book review recently and this book was talking about a bible verse.  This verse tends to be misquoted frequently and recently was misquoted by a presidential candidate.

The correct bible verse is below:

“For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”
— 1 Timothy 6:10

As the scripture quotes, money is not evil.  It is the love of money that is evil.  Basically, it is loving  money more than you love the Lord.  And personally, I believe that it is very ironic that Donald Trump is calling money evil.  He brags constantly about being rich and having lot's of money.  If he thinks money is so evil, then why doesn't he give all of his money away.  This is what bothers me about Donald Trump.  He is never consistent with anything.  He waivers on issues of abortion, money and many more.  It seems to me that most of his policies are decided by what is best for him today, not based on any principles.  Donald cares more about himself than anything else.

That's enough about politics, let's get back to focusing on greed.  Greed is when you are focussing on money too much.  Greed is when you keep all of your money and don't give anything to anybody.  Believe me, it was even tough for me.  I have recently become very interested in finances and early on I think I focussed too much on money.  The great thing was that we consistently gave 10% of our income monthly and this kept me grounded.  I wanted to get out of debt as fast as possible, but I also understood that it was important to give my money for the Lord's work.

It also helps having a plan.  I think that being able to see that our plan was working and being able to see that our gifts to the Lord did not affect our monthly finances was very beneficial.  I also think that it was important to understand that each season of life is different and God has placed you in each season for a reason.  By being more content with my life, I could focus less on money and more on living my life for the Lord.  That's how you avoid greed.  Greed makes everything about you.  Making everything about you leads to money becoming the root of all evil.
