All the candy is gone, all the costumes are away and November is upon us. With the arrival of November, that means holiday season is upon us. Soon, we will be giving thanks with our family and exchanging gifts the following month. Sandwiched in between these two holidays is one of the more infamous days of the year. That day is called Black Friday.
The Riches of Lifetime Learning
I have heard people talk about the importance of being a lifetime learner. I had never really understood this concept and used my free time watching TV or playing video games. I had heard many co-workers mention the importance of lifetime learning and teaching our students to be lifetime learners. I didn't understand this, because I didn't want to be continually in college classes. I had a major misconception about lifetime learning.
The Beauty of Sacrifice
What do all of those things listed above have in common? In my opinion, the are conveniences of living in the modern world. Everything comes so easily to us these days. I can go to a mall and shop at 30 different stores (if I want to). I can get in my car and drive wherever I want. I can go to the grocery store and stock up for a weeks worth of meals. I have a refrigerator, which allows me to keep food cool. These modern conveniences have made our lives so easy. There is very little sacrifice when it comes to these things.
