Go Tell It On The Mountain!

Maybe, I am different than most people, but I love this time of year. I love spending time with family. I love trying to find gifts for people on my gift list. I love decorating and enjoy listening to Christmas music throughout the season. I will sometimes even listen to Christmas music in the summer, which can annoy my wife.

I just love the excitement that goes with the season. My all time favorite Christmas song is "Silent Night," because I have so many fond memories of singing this song at Christmas Eve services every year. It is just so neat to sing this song by nothing but candlelight. I love this song so much that it has become a staple that I sing to my newly born daughter. It does a pretty decent job of helping her fall asleep.

So, why didn't I name this article Silent Night? Mainly because there is a song that tells an even more important message about the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. This song is, of course, "Go Tell it on the Mountain."

“Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born”

This is a simple message, but an important one. There has been a savior that was born in Bethlehem and he has come as a prince of peace. He came to die on a cross and forgive all of our sins. He was God's child, and he gave him to us for our sins.

This is a message that must be shouted.

We must exclaim, "JESUS CHRIST IS HERE." We must let everybody know about this amazing God, who walked on the Earth. He knows what it was like to feel pain. He knows what it is like to be poor. He lived this life (rather short) for us.

That needs to be exclaimed from the mountaintops. That needs to be celebrated. The Lord our Savior was born in Bethlehem. A God who walked on this Earth, lived like his people and died for our sins.

So, the message of "Go Tell it on the Mountain" is simple. It reminds us that celebrating the Lord, Jesus Christ is important. It reminds us that we must continue to tell the story about the Good News of Jesus Christ.

As you may have noticed, I decided not to write an article about money, but instead I decided to focus on the reason for the season. I decided to focus on the Lord, savior of my soul. I am a better man, because I follow his teachings. Sometimes, focussing on things bigger than us can be more important than worrying about the money. As I celebrate with my family this holiday season, I pray that you have a Merry Christmas and may the Lord Bless you in many ways.
